When considering genital herpes symptoms, it's important to note that the symptoms of genital herpes do not present identically in all people: symptoms of genital herpes can and do vary. The classic symptoms of genital herpes are tingling or discomfort in the genital area followed soon after by the appearance of a cluster of small blisters that may appear shiny. These blisters will eventually fill with fluid, break, scab over and then heal. An untreated genital herpes outbreak typically runs two weeks or so. A genital herpes outbreak that receives treatment can clear within days. There is no definitive period of time between a genital herpes infection and the appearance of symptoms. Symptoms may appear days after infection, and some people notice symptoms literally years after infection likely took place. Then there are people who never observe symptoms at all: eighty percent of the people who have genital herpes are unaware that they're infected, and one of the reasons for this high rate of status ignorance is presumed to be an absence of symptoms in cases of genital herpes infection.
