Valtrex claims to reduce the likelihood of genital herpes transmission, but the evidence for this claim only extends out to a period of six months. Nonprescription herpes treatments are typically externally applied, and are sold online. Some of the nonprescription herpes treatments claim to eradicate the herpes virus from the body entirely, and other nonprescription treatments claim to permanently end or greatly reduce future outbreaks.
