oral herpes

Oral herpes is an infection of the herpes virus, typically Herpes Virus 1. Though oral herpes infections are not always symptomatic, when symptoms do occur they're often referred to as cold sores, and to a lesser extent, fever blisters. Oral herpes is spread though skin-to-skin contact, with kissing a frequent means for transmission. Oral herpes is a particularly common condition, with estimates that up to ninety percent of the adult population is oral herpes infected. An oral herpes infection can be spread to the genitals through oral sexual contact. Oral herpes found on the genitals is still referred to as genital herpes, though an oral herpes genital infection is typically less severe and symptomatic than a typical genital herpes infection. Oral herpes does not usually present a serious health threat. Treatments for oral herpes are available in both prescription and nonprescription form.
